Blancmange – AUDIO venue

Many thanks to Dave Walker who provided us with some pics, a little report and even the complete setlist of the Glasgow gig. The LED lightning was a real challenge for the photographer, but we hope you'll enjoy anyway.   :)

A small venue under the railway arches in Glasgow city Center. Certainly my first visit there and won't be my last, small but great fun atmosphere. Blancmange had arrived in Town and the venue had started to fill early with the front row standing at stage being taken early.

This time Blancmange consisted of...

  • DAVID RHODES –Guitars and vocals
  • NEIL ARTHUR – Vocals
  • OOGOO MAIA Synths and vocoder
  • with Adam Fuest on the sound and visual aspects

The support came from Bernholz a one man synths and vocoder performance that went down well with the assembled audience.

On time (as there was a curfue in the venue) the lights went down and electronic opening soundtrack started playing to be followed by Neil Arthur joining David Rhodes on stage to his right completing the trio and they hit the stage running .. with songs coming from a spread back catalogue, Blanc burn ,Happy familys, Semi detached, Mange tout and the new cd commuter 23. The crowd were a typical Glasgow audience loud and into having a great night as were the band.

At one point Neil was saying how great it was to be back and he had taken a walk down the Clyde (the River that runs thru Glasgow and only a few hundred meters from where we were standing a loud voice shouted from the back as Neil said "I love Glasgow.. Today I went for a walk down the Clyde"..... guy from crowd "F**k me your Jesus!" to a loud roar from the crowd.

The crowd kicked off during Blanc burns Starfucker and sing alongs hitting the entire audience during feel me the set finishing with blind vision and the smiling faces of both band and crazy mid week audience finished with band returning for the encores.
